I totally get that, I wasn’t into poetry either, most of the time I don’t understand poetry. But I saw sooo much poetry content on here I had to give it a try.
Oh my gosh the Japanese murder mystery book sounds like such an enticing read because I love thrillers 🤩 going to have to look into it! I’m ashamed to admit my attention span hasn’t been the best when it comes to disappointing books so I’ve avoided reading for a while after a few bad experiences… trying to get back into it though! 🥲
Yaaa I notice such a huge hit to my willpower when I have bad reading experiences. I've decided to protect my peace and drop a book as soon it starts to feel bad. And honestly that's helped me to finish more books cause I find things I like.
If you're trying to get back into reading, the Japanese novel might be a good way to get back into it. It was fun, short, and had a bunch of images to keep me entertained.
The Strange House got me, it’s exactly the kind of book I love to read. As for me, I read four different thriller books, which is the most I’ve ever read in a month, and I really loved them🤭
The Tenant by McFadden… and she is exactly who she says she is! Now I want to read all her books 🤲🏼
The Nurse and The Bad Sisterm by Corrigan. The twists and turns made every page worth it.
Wow looks like you had a good reading month as well, Alhamdulillah! Thrillers are so fun, these sounds interesting, I'll check them out, thanks for sharing!!
That sounds awesome! Finding yourself is so important. I like to journal every evening about my day, focusing on the activities I did and how they made me feel. Reflecting on this helps me identify which activities make me feel good and how I can do more of them and do less of what makes me feel bad.
Finding a creative hobby is also really important, I tried a bunch of things last year until I found some things that stuck. I wanted to decorate my room so I tried many different arts and crafts like painting, crochet, and paper crafts. I made friendship bracelets which I really enjoyed.
Listening to tafsir of Quran also gives me clarity about my purpose. I like to do my creative crafts while listening. Right now I've started making bracelets again
You could write here to document your journey of finding yourself. Publicly sharing my journey has helped me stay accountable to trying new things.
Of course I would recommend reading books, fiction and non fiction. 'Be Your Future Self Now' by Dr. Benjamin Hardy was a turning point for me when I read it last year. I'm actually reading it again right now.
I hope these help you get started, feel free to DM me for anything else! ❤️
I have actually never read poetry! I’m not a fan, I’ve read some on Substack but it was a no for me

Yeah… I don’t get it, that’s the problem. Maybe I too should give it a try
Rupi Kaur's stuff was light, not too poetic so I liked it. I still like prose more though.

The House of My Mother by Shari wasn’t bad either

Your month seems to have been worthwhile..
Alhamdulillah, I did get to focus on reading more than usual. It was refreshing compared to previous months that were more stagnant.
Do you have any plans for next month Anzeelah?!
Leena, I'm happy for you. You spend this month doing something worthwhile. I'm glad to see you happy and satisfied.
Well, I'm planning to learn about myself, which I can do by understanding what makes me happy and what doesn't. I hope this helps.
Leena If you could suggest something that could help me introspect myself, that would be most appreciated..
